Armaments is exceptionally strong in long, defensive battles or decks with high-impact cards that benefit significantly from being upgraded mid-combat. It should be prioritized early in a run to mitigate the lack of Smithing opportunities at Rest Sites, allowing you to maintain tempo while slowly improving your deck's quality during an encounter.
Barricade
Barricade allows the block generated by Armaments to persist across turns, buying the player more time to cycle the deck and upgrade every card in hand. This synergy is vital for slow, defensive builds that aim to reach a state of total deck optimization during a single fight.
Corruption
Corruption reduces the cost of Armaments to 0 Energy, allowing for free upgrades and block generation every time it is played. This allows the player to spend their Energy on the newly upgraded cards immediately, maximizing the tempo gain from the mid-combat smithing.
Runic Pyramid
Runic Pyramid allows you to retain specific cards in your hand until Armaments is drawn, ensuring the upgrade hits the highest-value target possible. This removes the randomness of the upgrade effect and ensures that key powers or expensive attacks are enhanced before they are played.
Battle Trance
Armaments is most effective when you have a full hand of cards to choose from for the upgrade. Battle Trance provides the necessary burst draw to ensure you have high-impact targets available when you play Armaments.
Molten Egg
While Molten Egg ensures all future Attacks are upgraded, Armaments complements it by allowing you to upgrade your Skills and Powers mid-combat. Together, they significantly reduce the pressure to use Rest Sites for Smithing, allowing for more frequent Healing or Digging.
